Hail to the Chief!
The evil ones won. Today is a sad sad day! Today is the last day Chief Illiniwek will perform his traditional dance at Illinois' last basketball game of the season.
I am pro Chief, always was, always will be. I am very saddened to see him go. More importantly, I am sad to see the pathetic people win. I can tell you, I am probably not alone when I say: this will drastically decrease my financial support for the University of Illinois. They think they made the right decision to be able to host post season NCAA events, and that this will be financially good for the university, but trust me, I know many alumni, who give a lot of money to the University, will reconsider in light of this decision. I will continue to support the teams and cheer for them, I will always bleed orange and blue, but trust me when I say, the school will not see another penny as a donation from me. Let those who opposed the Chief donate their money.
I am glad that I had the opportunity to be there while the Chief was there, as a symbol. He was not a mascot, he didn't run around with the slutty cheerleaders (and yes, all cheerleaders are slutty) and harass the other teams. He performed an authentic Indian dance in honor of the heritage of American Indians, and the tribe after which Illinois is named. He was honored and respected more than any other symbol in any other University. But the evil ones finally prevailed, and my (unborn) children (who I was going to force to go to Illinois, but not anymore) and future generations will not have the opportunity to experience this school's spirit at its finest.
But I have my Chief gear, and I will wear it as long as I live. You can take the Chief away from the basketball court and football field, but you can't take the Chief away from us. You may even be able to strip the Chief away from our clothes, but you can't rip the Chief out of our hearts.
Goodbye Chief Illiniwek! You will always be safe in my heart, and no one can reach you in there and take you away!
I hope those responsible die of gonorrhea and rot in hell!
