Another fun-filled busy weekend

My weekend started on Friday. Unlike myself, I decided to go out on Friday night, mainly because a friend is a teacher and they were having a benefit for the school where she teaches at a bar nearby. Don't worry, the kids weren't invited. But now I know how teachers dealt with the craziness of teaching: the got together and got drunk! So, I did too. Sadly, I was drunk and back at home before midnight. That's what happens when you start drinking at 7 pm.

Saturday, I had breakfast/lunch with a friend, then went shopping for a mother's day gift. My mom is SO hard to shop for. She has everything she needs, and she's not the kind of person for whom you can buy useless little cute things. So I ended up buying her some books, because she used to be very well-read, and even now she still reads, but mostly books in Arabic. I thought that she really needs to read some good books in English, so I bought her a couple of books about politics, one of them about Hillary Clinton, and the other about Lenin. Then I picked up a gift card for her.

Well, good thing I did that yesterday, because we ended up celebrating mother's day on Saturday evening. I took my parents to a nice Italian restaurant. They really liked it. Very unusual, because they usually are very picky about the places where they eat.

***HOT REF ALERT! HOT REF ALERT!***

Today, Sunday, I had to play in two soccer games, but ended up playing in three. You see, I played a long soccer game in the morning, about 2 hours. My afternoon game was at 4:30. When we got done, the teams that were playing after us needed more girls to be able to play and not forfeit their game, so I stayed, but I really only stayed because of the cute ref. Oh, I've talked about him previously.

Well, today, me and the cute ref were flirting WAY TOO MUCH. I found out his name is Robert, and when he told me that, I said: "you don't look like a Robert."
He said: "oh yeah, what did you think my name is?"
I couldn't come up with anything and just said: "I don't know, something else."
He said: "well, let me know when you come up with it."
I said: "too late. It would've been better if it just came out, then I would seem witty. Now, it's a lost cause."
In reality, I had a name for him: "A F-ING HOT REF THAT I WANT TO DO RIGHT ON THE SOCCER FIELD." But I didn't know how he would take that!

I guess Robert will do. We laughed together a lot. He laughed at some stupid jokes I made. He said: "it's not fair, you make me laugh, you say really funny witty things."
He said: "I'm a happy person, I like happy people. You seem like a happy person."
He also said: "I really like nice people. You seem pretty nice."

When I was leaving, he said: "see you next week."
I said: "actually see you in two weeks or actually three weeks."
He said: "you won't be here next week? Why not?"

He is really cute. So cute, I just want to lick him. I don't know why. I'm not too crazy about the name Robert. I may have to rename him. I should tell him that next time. Someone help me come up with a good name for him. He has straight dark brown hair, and nice brown eyes, and a beautiful smile. He's fit, about 6' or 6'1". Let that guide you in helping me name him. He's definiltey the cat's meow. MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW!

The best thing about being a lawyer

Is not being a law student anymore!

The thing is, I am way too new to yet feel sorry for people who are in law school now, i.e., a lot of my friends. If I had to go through it, so do they. Actually, I love when people say: "it's not fair!" Do they forget that while they were skipping around, before they started, that I was already suffering.

The best thing, I go to work, and I put in 12 hours, and I get back home and I still have time to make dinner, eat, watch TV, and have wine with my cute neighbor. HUH? What? Yeah, he just invited me over to have a glass of wine. Why not? Nothing impresses a guy like looking at a girl start slurring after half a glass of wine! Not to mention cracking herself up with un-funny jokes. I must've done something right, because he said he wants to hang out tomorrow too if I am not too tired after work. Count. Me. In.

Not too bad for a Thursday

Long long day at work, and I am sure this won't be the longest of my career. Being the new kid on the block means that whenever someone has a little thing that needs to be done on a project, and they'd rather not do it, they will bring it to me. I don't mind at all, because this is how you show them that you're competent and hopefully I'm already doing that. Granted, I already worked there before finishing school, so they already know. But it's nice, because now, I can definitely tell they're approaching me with a little bit more respect, and like I'm a peer more than a subordinate. Although, being in my position, I am in no position to say no. So, I'm swamped with work, and it's only my fourth day. That's the nice thing about having already worked there, I am swamped, but I am not overwhelmed.

So, today was a 12-hr day and I brought some work home, which is not getting done. I didn't realize that there was a new episode of The Office on today. But my next door neighbor, the cute liberal guy, told me that he thought I wasn't home yet, so he DVRed the show for me. After I ate a quick dinner, I went over and watched the show, and then hung out with the cute neighbor, exchanged a few good stories, and came back home. Now, I'm ready to go to bed, and I have not touched my work. I think maybe I'll go over some of it in bed, before I sleep tonight.

But let's just say, life is good. I can't tell you how much of a relief it is being done with school after 24 years of continuously being a student. And to think, there will be no more first days of school for me. I think 48 first days of class are plenty for anyone to say NO MORE! I'm ready to enjoy the good life of putting in a lot of hours into work, but getting paid, instead of paying for it. And you know, it ain't too shabby when the I get to hang out with a cute neighbor after a long day of work. I can get used to this!

Hey, we're getting somewhere here

The cute neighbor has been out of town for about a week. Awful timing. I had planned on bugging him to get to know him better after being done with the exam, but he left the next day on a week-long work trip. The day after he left, he received a package in the mail that was left downstairs, so after it sat there for about a day and a half, I brought it upstairs and put it right in front of his door. I figured that if it's out of the way, no one will kick it around or try to be nosey and grab it. But a few days ago, I came back from being out and noticed that someone had tampered with it and slightly opened it. I got really mad, so I moved the package into my apartment to hold for him until he came back. The following day, he received a big stuffed envelope, and someone had put it in front of his apartment, but had opened it. I was really mad, and I moved the envelope into my apartment. People, tampering with the mail is a federal offense. I'd like to catch the person who did it and recite the law to them. Stupid!

Earlier today, I thought: "uh oh, in a couple of days I will be leaving on vacation and will be gone for three weeks. What if I leave before he comes back?" Well, luckily, he was home when I came back from dinner tonight, so I knocked on his door and gave him his stuff. He was very appreciative, and VERY cute. We started talking, and I told him that it's too bad that I will be leaving on vacation soon and that we haven't yet had the chance to get to know each other. He agreed, and he said we'll have to catch up when I come back. He also told me that we should watch shows together and hang out and drink wine together. Well, hell, who's going to say "NO" to that? He also said that he enjoys the movies and goes alone all the time, and it would be more fun to go to the movies together sometime. COUNT ME IN!

As if he needed any more cool points, he offered to get my mail for me while I was gone and hold it for me so my mailbox doesn't get too full. THEN, he asked me if I needed him to look after my cat while I was gone. HOW. CUTE. IS. THAT?!

This is perfect timing. Being done with school, becoming free, having a cute politically smart neighbor move in, and on top of that, I don't have to do much work to get him to want to do stuff. He want to hang out and watch movies and drink wine. Well, if I didn't know any better I'd say: LIFE IS GOOD!

Another reason to adore the new neighbor next door

In addition to being cute, extremely nice and friendly, and the fact that he remembered my name after our first conversation, when I was walking towards the building the other day, I noticed a sticker he must've just placed in his window, and it said: "Obama, '08." Yay, he's a smart one, i.e., not a Republican!

ADDENDUM: I realize the word "Republican" is a generalization and that there are some who are exceptions and are not fans of Bush, or politicians who act like idiots, and those people are obviously excluded. However, while I do not think all Republicans are stupid, I am highly opposed to a lot of things that Republicans condone, like owning guns, being anti-abortion, being anti-gay, being too religious, and not caring much about the environment, to name a few, oh yeah, and voting for Bush. While I'm at it, even though I know at least a couple of good Texans, despite being Republican (UGH!), I really don't like Texas, and that is totally based on having lived there and not just the fact that Bush is from there, but that definitely doesn't help. I do like the people as I have gotten to know them personally and happened to really like them, regardless of where they're from. As for the rest of the south, I have no regrets about my opinions about those people, because I have met a few freaks from a few southern states who fit every stereotype, and as for the very few decent ones that I haven't had the pleasure of meeting, oh well! Don't worry, there also plenty of freaks up north too, but being blue states relieves some of the weight of my dislike.

Republican ideology though is not something I am willing to say appeals to me or my senses and understanding of the world. I am OK with people believing what the want to believe, but if they voted for Bush or still think he's a good president, then I have no problems calling them stupid.
